Designed by Uffa Fox in 1949 and built by Fairey Marine, the International 14 featured a
mast with an aluminum lower section and a wooden topmast. The rigid hull was
hot-molded and smooth-skinned. This gave it superior performance but it was not
inexpensive and not particularly easy to sail well.
